Family Reunion Scholarship Application 2025
Dear Family Members,
The Burnette Family would like to offer Scholarship financial assistance to deserving family members in celebration of their academic excellence in 2025.
This assistance is in the form of a one-time scholarship award. There are two types of scholarships –
1) The Adolphus Meade Burnette Scholarship
2) The Burma Graves Burnette Scholarship.
The Adolphus Meade Burnette Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who plan to attend an institution of higher education after graduation; awardees are under the age of 22.
The Burma Graves Burnette Scholarship is for family members, 23 years or older, who decide to return to school and further their education – undergraduate or graduate school.
Please note that in order to be eligible for the aforementioned scholarships, an applicant must be a descendant of Adolphus Meade Burnette and Burma Graves Burnette. Attached you will find a scholarship application.

Presentations/awards will be made at the 24th Bi-Annual Burnette Family Reunion Dinner at the Marriott Atlanta Airport Hotel on July 12th.
We request you complete and submit along with this application a“500 to 750-word essay on the following
topic:
“As descendants of Adolphus and Burma Burnette, we know that our ancestors endured civil
and economic challenges while making a better life for their families. What civil and economic
challenges do you see that we are facing today and how can you build upon our ancestors’ progress,
subsequently charting your legacy and improving life for others?”
